The boundaries of an Indian tribes territory were constantly changing. Better hunting grounds, camp sites and access to trading posts were of primary concern for Indian elders and the whole tribe in general. The Crow, Lakota and Blackfeet tribes were expansionists without equal.
Here a group of Blackfeet are crossing the edge of their territory marked by a river and are about to enter Crow country. These incursions were usually met with resistance, therefore these indians are cautious and ready for trouble.
