RIFLE & LANCE     20” x 16”    oil on canvas
A warrior was always ready for battle.
With the coming of the white man trade, the indians had access to new weapons, including metal knifes, spear points, arrow heads, axes and of course the gun. The one weapon that had the most impact was the gun or thunderstick. The indians were quick to adapt and utilize these weapons but they always embellished them with their own personal medicine.
Depicted here is a Lakota Sioux standing with his 1866 Winchester Yellowboy and otter skin lance.
